Sniffle, Sniffle, Little Mouse

Sniffle, Sniffle, Little Mouse
Kay Rice

Sniffle, sniffle, little mouse,
Who’s that sniffling in my house?
Snuggle your cares, and wipe your tears,
Time to rest and put to bed your fears.

Sniffle, sniffle, little mouse,
Is that a cold sneaking into my house?
Put on the stew-pot, make it nice & hot,
Chicken soup, for my mouse, to clear up the snot.

Sniffle, sniffle, little mouse,
Who’s that sniffling in my house?
Tuck the covers up under your chin,
A spoon full of sugar will help us begin.

Sniffle, sniffle, little mouse,
Who’s that running around in my house?
PJ’s and slippers and you’re now hard to catch,
I guess that cold just met its match.

Every now and then I enjoy writing down the little nonsense poems that I would make up on the fly and tell my children.  This is one of  those little limericks that I would sing-song to them if I heard an unsuspected “Achooooo” in the house.  ~~Nothing in this world is more wonderful than the giggle from a child.

I have always said that my poetry and short stories write themselves, I'm just the hand that holds the pen. Several of my poems have been published in local publications and in the 2011 World Poetry Movement book 'Stars in our Hearts'. Please enjoy the words, but do not steal them. I enjoy living and what life brings my way. My day job, I'm a geekgirl, a programmer. Coding is like using clues to solve a mystery to me. But, my happiness outside of the day job involves, cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, writing, hiking, primitive skills. Yup, I come home and unplug. So there are many sides of me here. Enjoy.
