What’s wrong with the world today?
Hiding bruises while ‘morality’, tells us to stay.
Bombarded with lies, words which leave scars,
Yet the rules demand, we must never run far.
‘Play nice, you must not break the rule.’
Even when they only protect the cruel.

A bully wins when we care what others may think,
We hope in silence, our life is over in a blink.
Listen to the cries behind closed doors,
How much do we continue and choose to ignore?
See the darkened, blank lifeless, sorrow filled eyes,
So many broken wings, souls that never will fly.

What’s wrong with this world we now live in,
When the bullies grow stronger and continue to win?
When the weak get weaker, slowly fade in pain,
When did this world we live in become so insane?
When did the rules turn to protect the strong?
When did this world become so wrong?

A terrorist can come from far or from near,
They possess a power that is fed from fear.
Bully or terrorist, names familiar to us,
The worst are those we thought we could trust.
Stand up and believe, we must learn to stand tall,
Or by the hand of fear, one by one, we all will fall.

I have always said that my poetry and short stories write themselves, I'm just the hand that holds the pen. Several of my poems have been published in local publications and in the 2011 World Poetry Movement book 'Stars in our Hearts'. Please enjoy the words, but do not steal them. I enjoy living and what life brings my way. My day job, I'm a geekgirl, a programmer. Coding is like using clues to solve a mystery to me. But, my happiness outside of the day job involves, cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, writing, hiking, primitive skills. Yup, I come home and unplug. So there are many sides of me here. Enjoy.
