What is it?

What is it?

There is inside of me a call,
a desire, a need so raw.
a voice, a push, a bully in black,
the monster who always pulls back.

There is inside of me a fault,
that quakes until I fall.
A desire so deeply sewn in flesh,
that pushes until I only can crash.

There is a voice inside of my head,
Who knows the monsters under my bed.
It whispers and weaves delicate doubt,
Until slumber is way too far out.

There is a fear, sewn deep in my heart,
so black and so cold the end is a start.
It nags and it burns like coals on fire,
Until it takes shape, growing ever higher.

What is it, inside to cause such despair,
That replaces all accomplishments grown there?
One word, so engrained in my child’s mind,
One word, one life, I can never find.

Perfection…

I have always said that my poetry and short stories write themselves, I'm just the hand that holds the pen. Several of my poems have been published in local publications and in the 2011 World Poetry Movement book 'Stars in our Hearts'. Please enjoy the words, but do not steal them. I enjoy living and what life brings my way. My day job, I'm a geekgirl, a programmer. Coding is like using clues to solve a mystery to me. But, my happiness outside of the day job involves, cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, writing, hiking, primitive skills. Yup, I come home and unplug. So there are many sides of me here. Enjoy.
